If planning a renovation on an older home, the best thing you can do is to hire an expert, someone who knows how to work with the materials used and understands building techniques seen in older, vintage or historic homes.
These techniques are rarely taught anywhere. Shop classes have been taken out of schools and the focus in training programs is often new construction. Many techniques are only possible to learn by working for someone who knows, understands and is willing to teach you. We have learnt from our father and grandfather and they, from their father and grandfather. At Lemke & Sons, craftmanship has been passed down and perfected for 4 generations.
We are experts that can help to modernize or restore your home while keeping important architectural details intact. We want your home to be around for another 100 years.
We do not only work on older, vintage, or historic homes. We also work on more modern homes…they are easier, and we can do them in our sleep.
The EPA 2008 Lead Rule enacted the RRP program, a federal regulatory program affecting contractors, and others who disturb lead-based paint. This rule became fully integrated in April 2010. Federal law requires contractors that are hired to perform renovations, repairs, or painting projects in homes, built before 1978 that will disturb greater than 20 square feet of lead-based paint on an exterior wall, or disturbs an area greater than 6 square feet of interior paint per room to be certified in lead procedures and to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Lemke & Sons is EPA registered as a LEAD paint contractor.
Lemke & Sons have been working on “old” homes since they were new.
